The Evolution of Green Business
Thursday 25 February 2010 @ 10:58 pm

Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co (KKR) was founded by Henry Kravis and his partner George Roberts in the 1970’s with some assistance from the First Chicago Corporation. Recently they have set up an unusual venture that centers not solely on optimizing ROI, but also on how environmentally aware each of the businesses in their portfolio are. Environmentally sound business procedures became more broadly adopted in 2008 when Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co’s Henry Kravis and the non-profit environmental advocacy group Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) got together. The coalition wants to help resolve important green issues, that include deforestation, toxic waste, lavish water consumption, and toxic emissions.

Eco-efficiency (a phrase first popularized by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development) is the procedure deployed to achieve these targets, through using techniques like fuel economy, reducing the waste of resources and optimizing data centers for efficiency. Simple and effective, nevertheless the businesses involved did not grasp the full advantages of the project until the head of the project and global public affairs, Ken Mehlman, reviewed the program subsequent to its first year in operation. Surpassing everybody’s expectations, Ken realized that this program not only increased environmental awareness, but also increased the profits from every business besides. At the time of writing, KKR and Ken Mehlman have succeeded in getting nearly every associated company engaged in the Green Portfolio Project. And, when you consider that the group has a current business portfolio with an estimated worth of 86,000,000,000 USD, you can be sure that this was no easy see what an enormous achievement this is. The original project has evolved beyond its initial purpose and currently encompasses new opportunities. To illustrate, Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co joined the EDF’s Climate Corps Program an enterprise which instructs students taking an MBA how to encourage financially sound, planet friendly principles.

In addition, Ken Mehlman has been collaborating closely with KKR to develop a series of analytic tools and other related products which companies can use to evaluate and oversee a number of resources. Programs like these can evaluate a company’s progress and discover any areas which might need work. Today’s business community has been altered forever by the work of these people. Their innovations have made going green simpler for organizations in every industry and shown the world that running a profitable business need not entail the hefty price of damaging the environment.

A Life of Creation: Mr Nicholas Bredimus
Thursday 11 February 2010 @ 9:41 pm

Born and raised in New Jersey, Mr Nicholas Bredimus examined the practices of airlines, software, and hospitality together and to the benefit of all three industries. He has been in the thick of a plethora of initiatives, from creating time-saving computer programs to increasing aircraft safety and designing high value homes.

You could have predicted, mind you, that given his family tree he was certain to reach prominence. Drawn together from many nationalities, his kindred can be traced to Antiquity, with his mother’s side originating out of Germany and Scotland. His father’s family, on the other side, has its roots in England and Luxembourg, from where they subsequently emigrated in the late 1800s.

Once in the U.S.A, they still strove to climb in the world. Nicholas, along with his six siblings, was born to a father who worked as a mechanical design engineer and a mother who was a practicing nurse. He settled for a time in Arizona, Texas, Kansas City and Virginia.

Please inspect this #1 page for Nicholas Bredimus tips

So what did he do to capitalize on his heritage and education? He would soon embark on a series of prominent roles, all as part of major airlines. He rose to the rank of vice president with corporations like Hughes Airwest, Republic Airlines, and Trans World Airlines (TWA) respectively. Nevertheless, above all the airlines have had reason to thank him for the work he has conducted in software design. His insight into aircraft maintenance management programs, now commonplace in the entire air travel business while first coded for US Airways, ultimately led to what is still his most used achievement. Of course, this was only one of his significant products for airlines. The reservation programs he developed are on their way to stand alongside the aforementioned program as a standard, and his room booking routine enabled a great number of major sectors of the hotel industry to roll out the very first pc based architecture. He also produced a program trademarked QuikTix, the first electronic ticket sales network.

He has even been appointed to quite a number of capacities entirely unconnected to software design, don’t forget. Nicholas was division manager for American Express’ renowned IT department, started up Bredimus Systems in the early nineties, and had the honor of being appointed the founding president of AMR Travel Services.

And is he still active? Definitely- his unique intellect is still very much ready to answer the call despite his leaving former interests in the past. To address the most obvious question, his inventiveness can be seen in upmarket homes that feature all of the latest environmentally friendly and smart technology on the market. The tireless desire we’ve investigated here simply won’t stop…

Your Guide to Volunteering Your Time
Wednesday 9 December 2009 @ 3:59 am

Volunteering; a bridge to a better community, and supporting your local needy. As they say, “charity begins at home”. The obvious problem is that organizing your schedule so that you’re free to volunteer often actually squanders some of that valuable free time. Let’s not forget that volunteering can be more fun with your colleagues getting involved by your side!

Accordingly, firms have begun making themselves into initiatives encouraging their employees to give back to the community through volunteer activities. One of the more significant examples is Adaptive Marketing LLC of Connecticut who developed programs like Privacy Matters Identity (MVQ*PRIVACYMID). If you were asked for examples of company-backed volunteer work, you’d most likely talk in terms of blood drives, perhaps an annual donation drive, nothing more, but this is simply no longer true. To take one example, Adaptive Marketing has offered staff chances to take part in everything from athletic shoe recycling efforts to local tree-planting days. With all relevant information - date, location, time, details of event, etc. - publically posted it became very simple for staff members to set aside the time for volunteering and what initiative they’d join. It’s important to let volunteers back programs that fit their hobbies. Companies involved in this like Adaptive Marketing, (who offer to the public programs like Privacy Matters Identity (MVQ*PRIVACYMID)) offer their staffers a diverse list of events in their area. These may include encouraging environmental initiatives and so on. Adaptive Marketing’s members of staff have so much to choose from that they’re certain to have a project they’ll enjoy participating in, ensuring they’ll spend their time happily and productively. Most often a company supported charity project - fundraising with a homeless shelter, for example, or helping out at a local school - is done either as a one-off event or on a regular schedule to accomplish a bigger goal. Even employees who say they don’t have the time to spare can arrange a Saturday morning park clean-up or the public library’s sale of used books.

It’s common practice for business firms to help to support the community which they serve. A sense of community goodwill comes from the projects undertaken by Adaptive Marketing’s staffers through these company-sponsored programs. The truth is, the benefits of helping others include a sense of accomplishment - an upbeat feeling that leaves not just the employee but the whole workforce more upbeat. It’s our hope that by now the positives for everyone involved of a company supported volunteer drive are should have become self-evident.

A Background Portray - the Prominent CEO Naveen Jain: Exceptional Humanitarianism at Its Best
Sunday 18 October 2009 @ 2:53 pm

A steadily rising number of acclaimed business leaders are zealously engaged in philanthropical work these days. You have in all likelihood heard of Mr. Naveen Jain as the co-founder and CEO of Intelius, Inc. the predictive intelligence service company. Beyond having made the Forbes 400 Richest in America list 2000, this prosperous business leader has been honored with several choice awards, notably the Albert Einstein Technology Medal, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and the WSA Industry Achievement Award. Even so it surely doesn’t finish here. For Mr. Jain and his kin are equally as ardent about their charity efforts and will try to assist needy people whenever they can.

All our hopes for the years to come are manifested in today’s children. This enterprising man regards - and treats - them as a principal focus of his charitable projects, and he makes the best of any opportunity he comes across to support them. This is the main reason why he is persistently taking advantage of every opening available to offer help wherever even remotely workable. In consequence, Naveen Jain, his relations and his workers at Intelius dedicate their time and efforts to an impressive number of charities like the Rotary Club, the University Preparatory Academy, and the Indian American Education Foundation. Of course they will assign plenty of financial assistance, but more importantly they commit their time and effort to the most disadvantaged and endangered children. Furthermore, he donates to the Children’s Hospital, contributing to enhance the condition of children’s health.

As Jain is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology and XLRI Jamshedpur, it comes as no wonder that schooling holds an extremely significant precedence in his charitable worldview. This also incorporates campaigns and deserving cause that can range from neighborhood programs to the global. Thus, Intelius and its CEO are assisting voluntary organizations and charitable entities e.g. Hopelink, TreeHouse and United Way. Getting sustenance over to the malnourished of the world is another central objective to Naveen Jain and those around him and to him, it makes not a speck of difference. Although Naveen is cognizant that the enterprise of finding provisions for all the world’s hungry is a herculean one, he also understands that the unattainable can actually come to be realistic provided each and every one of us toils together. If this entrepreneur really gets his way, there will be a certain cessation to poverty and hunger everywhere some day. One would suppose that being the man in charge of a highly thriving market leading enterprise and a dedicated spouse and father as well would leave him little spare time for benevolent activities. Regardless Naveen Jain sees to it that each of of his charitable endeavors will enjoy all the help he can feasibly marshal. To summarize, this idealistic man is decidedly more than an obsessed (albeit admittedly very successful) maverick of internet commerce. He is a remarkable citizen and a genuine community champion.

Everything You Must Know regarding Stephen A. Schwarzman
Thursday 1 October 2009 @ 9:12 pm

The story of Stephen Schwarzman is one of generosity and a strong work ethic. Forbes ranked him as the fifty-third most well-off person in the country just last year, even so it is his patronage of the liberal arts and his spectacular business achivements that show him to be such a interesting individual. Steve’s biography shows everyone that the keys to attaining success in life are indeed working hard and, of course, unequivocal persistence.

In the 1980’s Stephen A. Schwarzman and Peter Peterson established their very first business providing financial advice. In the years to follow, it has evolved into a world leader in mergers and acquisitions; but Stephen didn’t start out heading his own enterprise.

Stephen spent his childhood years in the suburbs of Philadelphia. When he finished high school he chose an undergraduate degree at Yale. He undertook a master’s degree at the highly esteemed Harvard Business school near Boston, MA. Then Stephen joined at Lehman Brothers investment bank, based in Manhattan. Before he celebrated his thirty-second birthday, Stephen was already a managing director. Not only does Stephen give of his time to a broad range of charitable organizations, but he has also been a non-faculty professor at Yale. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the JFK Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. Furthermore, Stephen recently contributed to the New York Public Library 100 million dollars to sponsor their expansion program. Stephen also serves on their board of trustees.

As you’d anticipate Stephen Schwarzman is accepted as one of America’s elite — he was described amongst Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World in acknowledgement of his many achievements. His rise in the business community has been nothing short of spectacular, and no doubt his willingness to give to his community has set America an entirely new benchmark to achieve to.

With all his experience and his generosity of spirit, it would seem like there is nothing he can’t achieve. Thus, in summary, we see a person who has taken every opportunity offered to him, but he has equally employed his riches and influence to try to cultivate his community.

A Father’s Day Special: a Lovely Account of a Brave Dad Who Left Unforgettable Scars
Saturday 25 July 2009 @ 12:04 am

There is a narrative we all cherished to hear as kids, and that was the one about how my brave Dad got his face covered with scars. I will recite to you the story at the conclusion of this tribute, a tribute to the best dad a girl could ever have. His demise at the early age of 54 fell as a shock especially when his appointment for the hospital was to take a plaster cast removed only to bring him dead in the waiting room.

Although our parting came suddenly, the fondest of memories still held a strong presence in my mind for 26 years. If I could work back time, I would apologise for the times I took him for granted. Unfortunately, it’s overly late and I would have to take this incumbrance throughout my lifetime. But recognizing the man he was, I’m sure he will forgive me.

The thought that comforted me and aided to ease the rancour I felt was the one that goes “the good die young”.People see the word “special” in a lot of ways. So what do I see in my father that makes him to a greater extent special than the others?

Dad functioned in the military for 34 years along side an army of Fathers Day Gifts. He was designated in Hong Kong when this storey took place. The warning signal prompted into motion the evacuation of families living outside the camp to seek sanctuary in the camp immediately.

Eight of us were compacted into the back of a 3 ton army wagon with pillows for protective covering and ordered to keep our heads down of which we obeyed - the Chinese riot mobs were appearing up from the ditches that lined the road back to the barracks fully armed with all kinds of killing tools - twenty one rocks entered the wagon on the travel back to camp.

The convoy that travelled along now stood as burning wrecks. You can only think what the truck and the driver looked like when a onslaught of boulders were thrusted into the front portion of the wagon. Army officers didn’t give a decoration of courage to the driver. The reason was due to a technicality that he wasn’t suppose to drive that day so the acknowledgment was presented to the wrong man who was sitting up in front.

Until now, I still wonder if we could have prevailed that day were it not for the drivers who disobeyed the rules in order to deliver us.

The result of that horrifying day was a truck with no windshield, a driver with no face and eight people who lived to tell the tale. Now, you understand the reason why the marks on my father’s face scarred us for life.
