Simple, Effective Web Site Traffic Promotion
Friday 29 August 2008 @ 1:15 pm

Web site traffic promotion is central to the success of any
online business. Without effective web site traffic promotion, an
internet business will literally perish in a matter of no time
just as a retail storefront would go out of business without
customers walking through their doors. An internet business is as
dependent on web site traffic promotion as a traditional retail
outlet is dependent on attracting customers to visit their place
of business. Though traditional advertising and promotion
techniques are applicable to internet business, there are some
web site traffic promotion techniques that are unique to online
ventures.

Some of the most beneficial web site traffic promotion methods
for an online business are:

1. Search engine marketing

2. Pay per click search engine advertising

3. Linking campaigns and link exchanges with relevant websites

4. Giving away expert content containing your website link with rights to republish the content

5. Viral marketing and referral programs

6. Participation as an expert in industry related newsgroups

7. Placing classified advertisements in ezines, magazines, newspapers and industry related online directories or advertising services

8. Listing your business in directories hosted by internet service providers

9. Being featured in media publications and broadcasts

10. Buying bulk traffic

11. Purchasing or trading banner advertisements

12. Email marketing

Some of these web site traffic promotion techniques are very
basic, easy and inexpensive while others are more complicated, of
course with varying costs. When you first get started in an
internet business, it is beneficial to tackle the easy tasks of
web site traffic promotion first. If you can get traffic coming
to your site and convert those visitors to buyers, you will then
have funds to spend on more expensive web site traffic promotion
techniques, or even to hire a web site traffic promotion expert
to provide consulting and web site traffic promotion services
that have the potential of taking your website to new levels in
terms of performance and profitability.

Because there is great emphasis on the importance of search
engine exposure for internet businesses, many new business owners
set out right away to achieve top listing in the search engines
either through search engine optimization or pay per click
advertising. If you can possibly get a good search engine ranking
through search engine optimization that is fabulous because an
organic listing in a top-ranking position in the search engines
will undoubtedly be a web site traffic promotion move that will
produce vast amounts of free traffic and relative benefits.

However, achieving and maintaining such a ranking is not always
easy, especially if your industry is highly competitive. Business
owners who realize this will often dive right into pay per click
advertising which is, without a doubt, one of the cheapest and
easiest web site traffic promotion methods for getting exposure
to your website quickly.

You’ve heard the old saying, “It takes money to make money”.
While that is true, there are some very inexpensive web site
traffic promotion techniques that you can pursue even when your
budget is tight. Considering costs and effectiveness, a well
managed pay per click campaign is highly effective for instant
results from your web site traffic promotion efforts; however,
link campaigns, distribution of expert articles, participation in
newsgroups, media exposure, and trading banner advertisements are
virtually cost-free. So, it may be beneficial for some internet
businesses to focus their efforts on these low to no cost options
first to get some traffic coming to the website which will result
in revenue generation as well as making it possible to build an
opt-in list of newsletter subscribers for the purpose of email
marketing.

Super-phones are great tools/toys for ourselves, but let’s get tech-creators to work on helping the
Friday 29 August 2008 @ 9:10 am

This article has an accompanying comic strip that can be viewed at: http://m6.net/articles/images/supermobile.gif

The world of technology is racing ahead at such an unprecedented pace that it really is starting to become hard to believe what we human beings are creating with our minds and hands. A long time ago we were ecstatic about inventions like the telephone, stereo, and computer. These devices have added dimensions to our reality that once was only dreamed of in science-fiction films-film, another great invention unto itself. Communication, the sharing of information, and the pleasures of sonic enjoyment (We sure do love music!) have increased the quality of life for those who have been privileged to access it, and these days it’s spreading to countries that once were locked into primitive ways of existence. Is this story 100% true? Not many stories are, and I would like to try and see some of the pros and cons of both a life of pure technology, as well as of a life that is attuned perfectly with the natural world around us. Everything is not black and white, and I am hoping that there could be a focus that integrates both ‘realities’ into one healthy future for our species.

I was just reading an article in an Information Technology magazine about the new demand for mobile/cellular phones that also act as MP3 music players. Hey, I’m still blown away by phones that act as palm computers which access the Internet wirelessly! People now want a phone that can switch easily from communication device to music player. An unbelievable gadget if you really think about it. They want it to be able to store up to 1,000 songs, be able to sync up with a computer, and be able to download music wirelessly from the Internet straight into the phone. However, at the time being-and I know it won’t last-there’s been some trouble making this ‘perfect’ phone become a reality because everyone wants a piece of the monetary pie that comes with any incredible new invention. Music labels, wireless carriers, handset makers, and companies like Apple (iTunes) want control over various aspects of this new venture. In the end I’m sure everyone in the developed, and many in the undeveloped world will have these devices. The question that always seems to remain for me is: Are we focusing our great collective consciousness on the right things?

I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll have to say it again, ‘We need to put our energies into an outlook that encompasses both technology and nature, not to mention spirituality’. If you watch or read the News (I try not to do it too much) you will know that a huge number of stories are about problems with the world. Degradation of the environment, conflict between nations and cultures…we are not unaware of what’s happening around us. With the advent of the Internet we now share knowledge like never before. Fear and suspicion due to ignorance of other nations and cultures is decreasing rapidly as boundaries are now crossed freely and easily. I’m just wondering if we might need to put a little bit more of our technical focus and genius (a general focus that currently is a tunnel-vision based around personal gadgetry) into these bigger issues that seem so much more relevant and important when it comes to reaching a level of planetary sustainability and happiness that we can feel secure with. It’s no fun listening to cool songs on your ’super-phone’ if the bus you are riding on is attacked by frustrated people, is it? How about those awesome UV light rays that burnt your skin through the window on your way to the beach in your car that helped deplete the Ozone, as well as your wallet, because of the effects and costs of oil and other

It’s easy for me to say that we could change our focus, but the next question that arises is, ‘What do we get the techno-people to focus on to achieve this more sustainable, happy future? I think the key is probably taking a more spiritual, altruistic, community approach to things. Someone I just spoke to on my lunch break mentioned that if we took all the money that we spend on guns and bombs and put it into the ‘world society’, there wouldn’t be many homeless, hungry people in the world. Why have we become such an aggressive, angry species anyway?

Many of us believe that money is the key to happiness in life. We build things that we think will make us happy (super-phones), and we buy those things for the same reason. Society and marketing tells us that if we own them we will become happy. We are dedicating our huge brains to this pursuit of self-gratification, to the detriment of the world and people around us. By no means am I saying that it’s all bad. The power of information and communication shared in this new age has brought about massive changes for the good of the world. But, how do we take the next necessary step?

It seems like we will have to make it monetarily worthwhile for the geniuses to take the spiritual path of creating technologies for the collective as well as for our future generations. How do we do it? What are some of the paths that we could get them to put their masterful tunnel-vision focus on when in search of answers? How do we make it viable and worth their efforts in the immediate ‘pay-off’ sense? Please send me your ideas in a comment box at blog.m6.net. I want to tap into your individual skills and gifts. You’ve already helped make such progress in the world. I’m interested in what you think about how we can make our future a better one for everyone in our ‘neighborhood’.

Ways to Get Traffic to Your Website
Friday 29 August 2008 @ 12:22 am

In the real world when you buy real estate the catch phrase is “location location”.
In the online world the phrase is “traffic traffic”. If you have no visitors to your website then you will not survive on the internet.

There are so many ways to generate traffic to your site but today we will just have a look at a few.

Newlsetters and Ezines have always been a powerful way to get people to your site but today is not used to its full potential by online business owners.
Anyone can create an ezine but it requires consistent effort and time to build up a list that will provide you with an income. You also need to provide up to date information for your subscribers or information that interests them continually.

Joint Venture Relationships are very common on the internet. This is when web owners with compatible interests come together and cross sell each other’s products to each other’s subscriber list. It requires having something of value that you can trade with alike businesses.

Affiliate programs are another very powerful way to get people to sell your products and get qualified traffic fast. You enlist people to sell your products and after they sell your product you pay them the agreed percentage, this can be anywhere up to 70% of the sale. This depends how far advanced your business is.

So there is just a few of the many traffic generating ideas you can implement into your web business today without too much start up capital.

Locust Plague Defense; Hanging Zap Net from Cargo Plane
Wednesday 27 August 2008 @ 10:54 am

For those who have sat and watched in horror as a Locust Plague came over head in a dark cloud of solid insects thundering across the landscape; they know the devastation that takes place as an entire seasons crop can be gone in a matter of minutes. As temperature increases so to will the balance between insects and their food chain, meaning more locust plagues and other insect swarming events.

What can mankind do to stop these locust plagues? Well I propose we use a hanging zap net or bug zapper from a C-130 Cargo Aircraft. If we take five C-130 aircraft and fly them in a “V” pattern with giant nets with holes in them about 4 inches wide full electrified from portable generators in the back. We can zap the locusts in the swarm as the nets pass by them. We know locust usually fly under 180 feet above the ground, so if we fly at 220 feet above the ground and lower a net 200 feet out the back then it will zap them all.

The net strands will be shaped like airfoils so the net actually flies and aligns its self at about an 80-degree angle. Surely not all bugs will get zapped but most will and thus we can reduce the swarm by 75-90% and eliminate some of the devastation. A few passes and we could perhaps shave off another 5% to 10% of the total and call it a successful mission. Think on this in 2006.

Get a new home with easy mortgage, 233063 euro
Monday 25 August 2008 @ 3:47 pm

Both banks and brokers have their strengths and weaknesses. Arranging a mortgage is seen as the standard method by which individuals and businesses can purchase residential and commercial real estate without the need to pay the full value immediately. Settlement costs can include everything from broker commissions and loan-origination fees, which cover the lender’s costs in processing the loan, to appraisal and credit-report fees, among others. It is a transfer of an interest in land, from the owner to the mortgage lender, on the condition that this interest will be returned to the owner of the real estate when the terms of the mortgage have been satisfied or performed.

Some will quote you precise, competitive rates 11 percent. Different lenders charge different fees. So how do you find a lender or broker you can trust’ And of course, each loan and each borrower are different. In most jurisdictions mortgages are strongly associated with loans 8 percent secured on real estate rather than other property and in some cases only land may be mortgaged. But others will claim low rates to bring in customers or tell you that the rates 5 percent offered by competitors will change.

Start with credibility. It’s not easy to know if the prices quoted by lenders are reliable. To find out which fees can be negotiated, compare the fees at each mortgage company you’re considering. See mortgage loan for residential mortgage lending, and commercial mortgage for lending against commercial property. While a mortgage in itself is not a debt, it is evidence of a debt of 6 percent. Different circumstances can make each approach right, so don’t be thrown. Many of these fees are fixed but some can be negotiated.

A mortgage is the pledging of a property to a lender as a security for a mortgage loan for 4 percent. Although most mortgage experts say that rates 5 percent are pretty much the same wherever you go, give or take this tiny 11 percentage.

Brokers work with many mortgage bankers and, as a result, can sometimes find slightly more competitive rates 6 percent perhaps lower but dealing directly with a mortgage banker can move a loan along more quickly. Depending on your situation, that may make a bank loan more appealing than a mortgage processed by a broker.

Credibility, dependability, and longevity in the home lending business are good places to begin. In other words, the mortgage is a security for the loan that the lender makes to the borrower. See which lenders are charging fees 10 percent and for how much.

The World’s Coolest ‘FranchIce’
Sunday 24 August 2008 @ 5:54 pm

Samuel Johnson said it almost 300 years ago, and I still believe it today …

“If you’re tired of London, you’re tired of life.”

I enjoy many locations around the world, but none so much as London. It’s the center of civilization, as far as I’m concerned. If something is ‘happening’ there, then it’s worth taking note.

That’s why I was quite impressed to see the IceBar had set up shop on Heddon Street.

You don’t need to have a taste for vodka in all its forms, but it helps. That’s not only because Absolut is the financial power behind this motif, but because there is a historically-established reason why cultures from cold climates got this creative with a potato. Not only does it ‘warm’ a soul from the inside, but in the realm of Absolut, it comes in more guises than you’ve got time to try in a 30-minute session. That happens to be a customer’s time limit in the IceBar, which also limits the number of icebarfights on record.

This is a spinoff of the famous IceHotel in the Swedish arctic zone. If you like to travel, then this is a required destination. It’s only a 90-minute flight from Stockholm to Kiruna, where you’ve got a choice of snowmobile or dogsled (hint: take the sled) to complete your journey to the icy climes of Jukkasjaervi in Sweden’s portion of Lappland. It’s situated along the banks of the Torne River, widely acclaimed as being the source of the purest water in Europe, if not the world.

I think this is one of the most spectacular scenes in existence. Everything is constructed of pure ice, from the chambers to the furniture to the decor (world-class sculptures from global artists are commissioned to create them each season) to the glassware. The all-ice wedding chapel is booked far in advance and the theater stages world-class productions.

The beds do make the concession of thermal sleeping bags, which are amazingly comfortable, but even if you do get a bit chilled here, I guarantee you’ll be convinced it was worth it. I cannot think of a more majestic locale to view the Northern Lights flashing across the cold, crisp sky, bathing the ice in a blue-green glow that melds Nature’s wonder with that of man’s. The IceHotel is breathtaking in every sense of the word. It’s an experience which will be etched into your memory forever.

Thus, it wasn’t a surprise to me when, during a trip to Stockholm a couple of years ago, I checked into the Nordic Sea hotel and noticed a scaled-down replica of the IceBar adjacent to the lobby. I loathe queues, so fortunately, I was there on a quiet night and there was no 30-minute limit in effect. I donned the thermal cloak and gloves they provide, ordered an Absolut citron and proceeded to mingle in search of someone to share a toast of ‘Skol!’. Trust me, it wasn’t hard to do!

Its presence was such a ‘natural’ in Stockholm that I’ve thought more than once since then that the IceBar meets the critera for being a fixture in that center of chic that is London. And now it’s happened.

The £12 cover is reasonable, the drinks are Absolut, the sculptures and decor are changed periodically — the cumulative body heat does cause melting over time, so re-building is a necessity — and the atmosphere is the only thing that is always warm. After all, who’s going to pay for a 30-minute stay, garbed in silver thermals, and not be in a festive mood? It’s a perfect addition to any festive itinerary.

In chatting with the lovely blonde svensk flicka tending bar that evening, I discovered that Absolut is so pleased with the IceBar concept that they’re deploying them elsewhere. Besides Stockholm, they opened a franchice (I couldn’t resist the pun) in Milan before venturing into London. That makes sense. Stockholm’s ambience is quite-stylish and Milan’s is lively-stylish. If the IceBar succeeds in those cities, then it’s ready to move up to a London setting.

It succeeds spectacularly. After one visit, and 30 minutes of Absolut, you may just reach for the cellphone and book reservations for the IceHotel, then and there.

If so, you’ll join a growing list of those who have found that drinks in your ice can be more fun than ice in your drinks.

Why is that?
Friday 22 August 2008 @ 3:04 pm

Last night the news reported the third day in a row of
slipping stock prices - no surprise there. Ever since
we bought stock, the price has fallen and fallen and
fallen. We have the same luck with buying houses!

However, the reporter also told us that AOL (Time
Warner) had a 15% slip in their stock price, based on
AOL’s prediction that their advertising revenue will
fall 50% next year.

Why is that?

Well I’m sure the folks at AOL might disagree with me,
but my first thought was perhaps they had priced
themselves out of the market?

The other day an advertiser called and his first
question to me was, “Why so cheap?” He was asking
about our Oh So Easy Solo (OSE, formally Sweepstakes
Solo) group prices.

My reply to him was simple. You just cannot afford
to price yourself out of the ballgame - pure and
simple fact.

Sure there may be “big guns” out there with tons of
money to burn, but let’s face it the majority of those
doing the advertising are just like you and me - with
limited cash flow for advertising online.

We can’t afford not to advertise, that’s also fact, but
no one is going to pay ridiculously high prices, they
just don’t need to… competition is everywhere,
especially on the internet.

Whatever you are selling online, just be sure to review
your own pricing from time to time. Too high? Too low?
Adjust when needed, just be very careful not to price
yourself out of the game :)

How Could Increased Credibility Help You Grow Your Business?
Saturday 16 August 2008 @ 5:47 am

IN WHAT SUBJECT ARE YOU AN EXPERT?

If you’re a small business owner, presumably you are an
expert in your industry or profession or you would not be
in that industry or profession.

Expertise does not mean being the best in the world at
something like Lance Armstrong or Bill Gates. Can you
imagine being ranked No. 1 in the World at a
particular skill or talent? It sure would be nice but it
doesn’t happen for most of us. And yet many more of us are
experts than we may realize.

With more than 6 billion people in the world, good thing it’s
utterly unnecessary to be the best in the world at something
to qualify as an expert. All expert means is that you know
your subject better than most people.
American Heritage Dictionary defines an expert as “a
person with a high degree of skill in or knowledge of a
certain subject.” Given those more relaxed standards,
chances are pretty good you know a great deal about at
least one particular subject, meaning that you are an expert
in some area.

So you’ve given it some thought and have acknowledged
that you really are very good at something. Canvas pool
covers. History of birdhouses in America. Ways to help
college freshmen succeed. The subjects are limitless
but you ARE an expert at one of them.

Question: What are you doing with that knowledge and
expertise? If “using it to build credibility in my area of
specialization” is not your answer, it should be!

WHY CREDIBILITY?

Simple. Credibility is the thing that makes people respect
you as an expert. It’s the thing that gives you an edge
because it causes people to seek you out for your
knowledge. Credibility means the quality of being logically or
apparently valid. And with credibility comes
authenticity, believability, genuineness, legitimacy, visibility,
trust, plausibility, reputation, and word of mouth.

Are those qualities helpful in building a successful
business? You’d better believe they are!

BENEFITS OF CREATING CREDIBILITY FOR
YOURSELF AND YOUR BUSINESS

Perception of Trust Credibility creates an
implied trust that decreases your need to work as hard to
prove yourself. People trust you if you have credibility.

Knowledge Showcase Credibility allows
you to share useful and/or entertaining information about
your area of specialization that draws added attention to
you/your business but is not confused with advertising.

Implied Quality Credibility carries with it an
assumption of due diligence. For example, if Oprah
recommends a book, do people bother to read other
reviews or do they run out and buy the book? Deserved or
not, Oprah’s opinion carries some of the highest credibility
in the world.

Increased Exposure Credibility enables
you to reach potential customers who fall beyond the reach
of your traditional marketing efforts.

Improved Recall & Recognition
Credibility reduces your audience’s resistance to your
marketing message. With traditional advertising, a
customer must hear your message as many as 21 times
before they recognize your message as your
message, remember the contents of your message,
and are moved to take action.

Heightened Demand The more credibility
you have, the more likely someone is to want to pay
for your product or service.

Brighter Visibility The more your credibility
increases, the more likely people are to seek you out to
suggest joint ventures and other opportunities.

HOW CAN YOU BUILD CREDIBILITY?

There are many ways to increase your credibility, some of
them more instant in nature, while others require a more
plodding, long-term effort.

  • Get interviewed by the mass media.
Pro: Provides immediate visibility. Con: Is
inordinately difficult to accomplish. Key: The old
80/20 rule put the large majority of your efforts into more
realistic goals, but never neglect the attempt for widespread
    coverage entirely.

  • Contribute to mass media publications.
Pro: Offers virtually instant credibility. Con:
This market is neither specialized nor particularly focused
on your industry. Key: Regular appearances, like a
    featured column.

  • Get interviewed by or contribute to niche media
    outlets
. Pro: Is easier to achieve than national
exposure. Con: Offers less exposure than national
outlets. Key: Write or speak as THE expert in your
    field.

  • Get a blog. Pros: Easy to do, very
inexpensive, and most blog providers have syndication
technology built right in. Cons: Everybody’s doing it,
and just because you write does not mean anyone will read.
Keys: Write more than one blog on hyper-niche
topics, cross-link them, and promote them just like you do
    your Web site.

  • Try Podcasting/Internet broadcasting.
Pros: Almost as easy as blogging, but with audio
once you learn how; new listeners are seeking Podcasts
daily. Cons: Finding the resources to learn how to
Podcast is still a challenge; attempting to produce a quality
show is more difficult than it seems. Keys: Commit
to a niche topic, have fun, and experiment until you find your
    own unique show format.

  • Write! Articles, media releases, books, info
    products, etc
. Pro: It’s the easiest way to create
    visibility. Cons: It takes time, effort, and research;
may require you to hire an editor. Keys: Test various
    markets; develop a system.

The trick to creating expert credibility and its subsequent
increased publicity even notoriety in your field is to
    get out there! No matter
how good you are at what you do, no one’s likely to stumble
over your genius as you quietly plod away at your desk or in
a corner of your shop. You must draw attention to yourself
like a beacon. However, with some directed and dedicated
effort, you can achieve expert credibility in your industry and
race to the forefront of your profession.
