A Real Psychic Life - The True and Magnificent Power of Giving
Wednesday 30 April 2008 @ 10:35 pm

You’ve probably heard of the popular saying “It’s better to give
than to receive.” But do you actually know what hidden power
lies within this magnanimous act known as “giving?”

When you give something from your heart without expecting
anything in return, you release a powerful force that will
trigger your good deed to “bounce” back to you in amazing, and
sometimes unusual ways.

I firmly believe that whatever you impart to others will come
back to you a hundred fold. You are doing yourself a big favor
by helping someone in need. By doing even the smallest acts of
generosity, you are inviting good vibrations to come into your
life.

You would be earning the respect and love of your recipients.
You know that you will always have a loyal group of friends who
would help, protect, and do anything for you just because they
feel that they have to repay you in any way they can. Most
people would have the urge or drive to reciprocate any act of
kindness you’ve shown them.

However, this does not mean that you must expect them to repay
you. Give without any expectation of rewards. Don’t do it just
because you have an ulterior motive. Give unconditionally. Give
because you are happy doing it. The universe will get back to
you in its own special way.

Speaking of happiness, the act of giving can summon the spirit
of joy to come into your heart. How would you feel when you’ve
given something to your less fortunate neighbors? Let me tell
you that nothing could brighten up my day more than hearing them
express their most heartfelt gratitude and seeing their smiles
extend from ear to ear.

Giving is also a healthy habit. It could prolong your life by
instilling within you an inner sense of peace and accomplishment.

Just like all things in life, giving has its limitations. Being
too generous can have its toll. Your kindness might be taken
advantage of and people might abuse your good intentions. Beware
of individuals who are continuously seeking your aid. It’s
better to teach them how to solve their problems than to always
attend to their needs.

As one saying goes …

“Give them some fish and you’ll feed them for a day. Teach them
how to fish and you’ll feed them for a lifetime.”

Lastly, here’s what I consider the most important rule about
giving. Keep your good deeds to yourself. Don’t announce to the
whole world that you’ve donated $100,000 to your favorite
charity or that you’ve helped save a child from a
life-threatening disease.

If you really desire to give, do it secretly and in private.
Some people would write “anonymous” rather than their own names
when they’ve made a contribution. The universe smiles upon these
individuals, and they will get their just rewards in due time.

Now that you know how wonderful it is to give, would you go out
to the world and share your blessings?

Car Rental in Spain is Mainly Not the Same
Wednesday 30 April 2008 @ 8:08 am

In a nation like the United States, where icons like McDonald’s
and Wal-Mart have spoiled us into thinking we can go anywhere we
like and still get a quarter pounder with cheese - or find
people wearing blue smocks - it can be easy to think that the
world is all the same. Even the car rental game seems the same,
because we can get off at any airport and choose between
compact, mid-size, or full-size, and generally get what we want
and expect. While we may not want to admit it, the rest of the
world just does not operate according to our way of thinking.

Getting a car rental in Spain, for instance, may not be
difficult, but it certainly is not the same as securing one in
Cleveland. There are some subtle differences between a car
rental agency in Europe and one in America. If you plan on
traveling abroad, don’t expect everything to be exactly the same.

So what can I expect when I want a car rental in Spain?

For one thing, don’t expect a great selection of vehicles with
automatic transmissions or air conditioning. A car rental place
in Spain, or elsewhere in Europe, will usually have only a
limited selection of vehicles with these customary American
options. Plus, while a car rental place in the United States
will charge you an insane fee for not filling the fuel tank
before returning, this pales by comparison to what may happen in
Europe. Not only will you pay a steeper price for returning to
the car rental company on “E”, but you will have to pay for gas
by the liter - and the cost could break the bank for you.

In fact, because of the steep gasoline prices in Europe, you may
want to ask the car rental agency for a diesel-powered car, as
this will be easier on your budget. This may not measure up the
exotic dreams you had for your time in Europe, but your wallet
will thank you for making the more conservative choice at the
car rental agency.

Will I have problems actually renting a car?

That depends on what you mean. Some nations require an
international driving license, and the car rental agencies in
these countries are required to ask this of anyone renting a
car. To be on the safe side, you might want to go to a place
like the American Automobile Association to avoid an
embarrassing scene at the car rental place in Spain. It’s up to
you, of course, but “better safe than sorry” is a good way to go
here.

Now, because Europe is such a popular tourist destination in the
summer, you might be very disappointed when the car rental agent
in Spain shakes her head and tells you that nothing is
available. It is best to reserve your vehicle as far in advance
as possible, especially if you hope to have any luck at the car
rental places during the peak periods.

What else should I know?

While not necessary, you may want to opt for the insurance at
the car rental place. The reason? Europeans are known to be more
aggressive drivers than their American counterparts. This is not
to say that they are worse drivers, but their aggressive
maneuvers may take you off guard. And you don’t want to return
to the car rental agency and have them charge your insurance
company for your European driving lesson, do you? I didn’t think
so.

So take these guidelines into account when securing a car rental
in Europe, and they will provide for a much more enjoyable and
hassle-free experience. And when you get there, say “Hi” to the
Eiffel Tower for me.

Using the Sun to Power Your RV
Wednesday 30 April 2008 @ 6:38 am

Jumping in your RV and leaving the rat race for the weekend is
an American tradition. Did you know you can provide power to
your RV with the sun while getting away from it all?

The Sun is Everywhere!

One of the biggest misconceptions regarding solar power is that
it is limited to large panel systems on roofs. Au contraire!
With new nanotechnology, solar power systems will soon be
applied with the paint you use to improve your home. That’s
still two or three years away, so what about now?

If you enjoy taking the RV out for an excursion, you can use
solar power to provide your electrical needs. Whether you are
going camping or to a NASCAR race, it is an exceedingly simple
process.

Unlike homes, RVs run on direct current electricity. This makes
them perfect for solar electricity since solar systems produce
direct current electricity instead of alternating current. Put
another way, there is no need for bulky converters to flip the
electricity from direct to alternating. Instead, you can use the
sun to power up your batteries directly.

Portable solar systems consist of pop-up solar modules with four
or five panels. Essentially, they look like small ladders with
solar panels instead of steps. You just pop them up on the roof
of the RV or in an area where the sun hits them. The systems tie
directly into your batteries and power them up during the day.
Super easy and super clean.

The real advantage to solar RV systems has to do with noise. The
traditional method for recharging your RV batteries is to turn
on a generator and generators can be very loud. Even the
quietest generator makes enough noise to make you feel like you
live next to a construction site. Solar systems make no noise at
all. There are no moving parts, just the sun beating down on the
panels. You’ll never know they are even there.

If RVing is your thing, portable solar modules are worth taking
a look at. With high fuel prices, you need to save a buck
wherever you can.

Ordinary Objects? Or Listening Devices?
Tuesday 29 April 2008 @ 4:08 pm

Listening devices are among the most basic of spy and surveillance equipment. It is the first thing that any professional, amateur, or hobbyist should look into getting. There is a wide variety of listening devices. They range from the large-seeming constructs that are pointed at subjects up to 300 yards away and still pick up sound, to tiny RF transmitters that hide among telephone cords. But the most interesting bugging devices are those that look like ordinary, everyday objects. They are fun to use and often lull unsuspecting subjects into a false sense of security, encouraging them to reveal information that they do not want you to have.

Listening devices that look like everyday items are especially helpful if you want to record a conversation you are having with someone, but don’t want them to know you are recording it, or if you want to listen in on a conversation someone is having in another room (one that she or he would not have with you present). You can leave the object behind, and the person will not know that you are listening, or you can wear the bug on your person, sending the audio to a recorder that you can further listen to at a later time.

Some of the more common everyday listening devices are things like pens and cell phones. These are items that are prevalent everywhere. It does not look suspicious if you have a pen in your pocket, or use it to take notes. Likewise, nobody thinks twice about the cell phone hanging from a clip on your belt. These are objects that people expect to accompany you everywhere. And they are also objects that nobody suspects when you “forget” them. People are forever misplacing pens and cell phones.

Other listening devices that masquerade as regular items include reading glasses, makeup compacts, and even larger, more stationary things like clocks and small sculptures. It is even possible to hide bugs in innocuous objects not likely to be suspected of containing bugs. Many of these things still perform their normal functions, so they work as they should. They just have the added bonus of actually being listening devices.

Poker
Tuesday 29 April 2008 @ 3:04 pm

Americans play Poker in many places such as in casino card rooms, online and at home. It is estimated over $170 million in bets are made through online casinos everyday and this figure may double by 2006.

Poker has been a popular card game for years, possibly the most popular casino game. Nowadays, most of the online casinos have some form of Poker. Even television has jumped on the bandwagon with shows such is the World Series of Poker and Hollywood Celebrity Poker just to name a few. There are all kinds of Poker tournaments played almost everywhere in world.

A new magazine, “Bluff Magazine” has been created for online Poker lovers. It is very popular especially with the younger generation.

Poker, just like every other game, requires skills in order to play. Basic know how is not enough. It is imperative to develop strategy if you want to win. This is when a good casino portal comes in, like CasinoCafe.com or our sister site GamblingCove.com. Both offer poker site reviews, tips and tutorials on how to play poker.

Actually, some feel it is easier to play at an online casino; the reason being you don’t face the other players. Your opponents can’t see your expressions which makes it difficult to perseive your moves.

There’s no doubt in my mind that online casinos have played a big role in the Poker explosion. Let’s face it, poker is BIG, it’s getting bigger everyday and it’s here to stay.

HAPPY BETTING!

Nothing Says More About Quality of a Home Than the Choice of Great Flooring
Tuesday 29 April 2008 @ 10:30 am

Notice, I said great and not expensive. The right choice of
flooring will make your home more comfortable and functional to your
lifestyle.

Hardwood and laminate hardwood is best way to get more out of your
investment at resale time. It requires little maintenance other than an
occasional sweeping. The life expectance of hardwood is easily 20
years. Then you just refinish it (comparatively cheap) and your floor
looks fantastic for another 15 or so years. The misconception about
flooring is the initial expense. Yes the majority of the cost is the initial
investment is sometimes scary. The overall value is a no brainer.
Homebuyers today love hardwood, there are no two ways about it.
Being a recent homebuyer myself the addition of hardwood was a big
selling point for me. Our home purchase had quite a bit of carpet, with
the plans to replace most hardwood. We were able to use that as a
bargaining point, and it worked quite well. Once I installed the hardwood
the difference was amazing. Selfishly, the “ooh’s and aah’s” of visitors to
our home was in itself worth the investment. Then when they found out
that I did it myself, the complements go to the next level.

While carpeting is nice to the touch and ads a warmth and comfort that
hardwood cannot, it requires much more maintenance and care to keep
it looking its best. The problem is at resale time the investment of carpet
(even the good stuff) usually causes a negative impact to prospective
homebuyers. Consider carefully the use and placement of carpet in your
home. I say this purely for the resale value and quality of use.

While it is easiest to do this step while the home is empty. I suggest that
you live in your new home, and look at how you live your home before
you take this step. If you use a room as a playroom, for example, it might
be better with carpet. A dining room that sees little use and has a better
chance for messy messes, hardwood is a better choice. So I say all this
to say look at how you use the rooms to better make your choice of
flooring. Although hardwood throughout your home is the best for the
investment of your home, there are rooms that you will find more
comfortable with carpeting. A misconception with hardwood is that it is
cold and hard. I installed hardwood (instead of carpet) in our master
suite and absolutely love it. Wood is an organic material that takes on
the temperature characteristics of the surrounding environment. When I
climb out of bed in the morning I have never had an adverse opinion.
We chose carpet for the kid’s rooms, because while they are young they
play with their toys on the floor on their knees. I thought that it would be
more comfortable for them to play.

Business Now: Connecting with Consumers Online
Monday 28 April 2008 @ 6:30 pm

According to Wikipedia, in 2007, there were about 1,319,872,109 people using the internet, world-wide. You guarantee failure if you don’t plan to market your business on the internet. If you have a business or if you are about to start a business, the search engines should be factored into your business plans and marketing strategy. Once you have the plans for your product(s), services, demographics, etc.; be sure to shape your website to be fully optimized so that it is searchable on the web. People use different search engines to seek out information, especially when it comes to seeking out information about products they want. Most people stick with the top five search engines, like Google, AOL, Yahoo MSN and Ask.

In the most simplistic and basic business plans for launching a solid e-commerce site, proper keyword research relating to your products and company, along side with a user-friendly website shaped towards your consumer demographic will help your campaign in dominating the web. Avoid going to just any web developing firm. Don’t get too obsessed with a flashy website; just be sure to give your consumer demographics what they are looking for when planning to build your company site. If the site is built well, it will attract unique visitors, willing to buy, buy, buy.

Also, be sure to diversify your marketing plan when launching your company. Don’t just build a website and wait for people to go to your site. Promote your site on relevant blog forums, social media sites, and other online communities.

Thyroid 101 what you need to know about
Monday 28 April 2008 @ 6:25 pm

Amongst the various medical problems on a rise, thyroid sure is
amongst the top few. Thyroid problems are becoming more common
in the present society with every passing day. Major causes of
the problem are improper nutrition and lack of nutrients in the
soil. To understand the effects of thyroid malfunctioning, it’s
important to understand what exactly the gland des in the body.
Thyroid is a small butterfly shaped gland located directly below
the Adam’s apple. This gland swells up accompanied by an
inflammatory sensation, when not working properly. This can be
seen as a small bulge in the area. Doctors might feel the size
of the gland by keeping hand around your neck and making you
swallow.

Thyroid is known as the hormone factory of the body, as it
manufactures a number of hormones for the body. T3 and T4 are
the major hormones amongst them. Among various other things
these hormones control the body’s metabolism and energy levels.
Body fails to function properly in case of excess or lack of
these hormones. While lack of these hormones make the body
sluggish and slow an excess of these make the person hyper
active sending the body in an overdrive.

Thyroid has to be taken care of properly as it affects the
entire body. Damage to thyroid ends up effecting entire body
over a period of time. Brain might be effected in terms of
memory loss and moodiness, reproductive health, heart, body
weight etc are some matters that can occur with thyroid
disorders.

Thyroid malfunctioning more often then not leads to heart
problems and a number of other problems as well. Often a part of
auto immune problems, thyroid can go simultaneously with
cholesterol and other problems. Body may experience arthritis
type pain which shall diminish as soon as the hormone levels are
back to normal.

Thyroid problems affect irrespective of age and sex. According
to the American Thyroid Association, half of the people with
thyroid problems do not even know about it. It often goes
unnoticed as the symptoms are mistaken as that of some other
disease. For eg tiredness is a major symptom but is generally
overlooked as a general feeling or is associated to other health
problems.

However certain groups of people are more susceptible to the
disease then others. For eg women are 8 times more likely then
men to face the disorder. You are also more prone if you have a
family history of the autoimmune diseases. In such a case
regular checkup of the thyroid gland is highly recommended.

People with a high exposure to radiation also have higher
chances of a thyroid disorder as the gland is sensitive to any
radiation. Similarly elderly people amongst us also run a higher
risk of disorder.

Being a victim of thyroid disorder can be a sad story and at
times really discouraging. Symptoms can be painful and tend to
pull you sown. However the facts remain that you can live with
it, and live happily at that.

First step is getting the right treatment. Contacting the right
doctor and taking the full course of treatment. Being proactive
is also very important and if medications don’t prove effective,
then tell your doctor immediately. Another important thing is
eating healthy. Sugar rich and processed foods should be
avoided. Most importantly, help someone else. It’s rarely
prescribed by doctors, but is in fact an excellent antidote, for
many ailments.

How to backup your data properly
Monday 28 April 2008 @ 4:52 pm

Your data is important to you and why shouldn’t it be. Computers
have grown to be a part of our daily lives, so it’s safe to say
that most of us would be devastated if we lost everything on our
computer. That is kind of a scary thought as your data depends
on a machine to keep and store it, and let’s face it, machines
fail. Although computers have become much more reliable, more
complex software and the internet has made everyone’s computer
vulnerable to complete loss of data.

There is something you can do to fight back though, that is to
take matters into your own hands and don’t rely solely on your
computer. The best way to do this is to backup your data
properly and keep doing that at least once a week, or once a
day, depending on the type of data that you are backing up. This
is perhaps the most important task that any computer owner can
do, and is the simplest, but yet not everyone does it.

On the computer market these days there are a slew of external
and internal storage devices that make backing up your data easy
and convenient. With so many devices, and so many solutions, it
can be tough for someone to decide on a backup method. So let’s
talk about the different backup strategies you could implement
and which one best suits your needs.

Known worldwide basically as the main method of backing up your
data is your floppy disc drive. I know they store a very little
amount of data, but for simple data files it’s perfect because
every computer already has one, and it is easy to use and
access. I thought I would remind everyone of that backup method
because it still can be used and won’t cost you anything more.

Now if you want to get down and serious, and backup everything
on your computer, then what you want to do is a full hard disk
backup. A full hard disk backup is what every computer users
should do, and is perhaps one of the best data backup solutions
possible. This is true because it makes a full copy of your hard
drive, so if all data is lost then your backup could be used
immediately and will have everything on it. The only problem
with this backup strategy is that it takes a little while to
complete the backup, and to get the best use out of it, you
should do it once a week. But if your data is really that
important, then it is worth the time and energy to do this.

The next backup solution is pretty common and has already been
done by just about everyone. You could just backup your data
files and folders that are important to you, so if you ever lose
all of your data, then you would still have your important files
and only have to reinstall the software associated with them, if
any. Files and folders are usually the most important type of
data that someone needs to back up and is all that matters, so
most of you should use this method.

Perhaps the best backup solution there is, next to a full hard
disk backup, is a CD or DVD burner. Now since both of those
burners cost around the same price, DVD is just a little more,
then I recommend a DVD burner. Not only does DVD technology hold
more then four times as much data as a regular CD, but a DVD
burner will also burn regular CD’s. Also not to mention that
fact that you can backup your home movies that then can be
played in your DVD player, and can last forever without
degrading in quality like VHS.

Well those are the main types of backup strategies and solutions
that people are using these days. Whether you run a business on
your computer, or just use it for fun, backing up your data is
always a good idea and should never be overlooked by any
computer user.
